i think they could easily be removed with a needle file then finished with 220 grit then 400 grit sandpaper followed with steel wool. polishing them out with a hone would also work. i've never removed...

HansYou might also try emery sanding cloths,then finish off with 0000 steel wool. These also work great to remove light pitting. Cheers,Rob
